IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! HIP, HIP, HOORAY!

Today is my birthday, and guess what!  I'm TEN years old!  What this means is that I am now exactly as old as the number of toes I have on my two front feet combined, including the dew claws.  Next year I can start adding in toes from my back feet.

I am doing pretty well with my Cushing's Disease right now.  During the summer, I lost a bunch of hair, and I looked kind of bald and not very beautiful, so Mom did not want to take any pictures of me.  But then I went to see Dr. Grigsby, the internist, and she messed with my medication for a while, and now I think she got it right because my hair grew back everyplace except right on the end of my nose.

In this picture, I am looking back over my illustrious
blogging career.

Another thing that happened during the summer was that I started licking myself a whole bunch because I felt really itchy.  Mostly I licked my tummy and between my back legs and also on my feet some.  This made even more hair fall out, and I ended up with kind of pink, splotchy places.  So now I have to take some green pills that are called antihistamines so that I won't be itchy anymore.

Well, that's all the latest news about me, but several things have been going on here that I need to update you about, so I thought I would do that today.

Update #1:  Mom has had a bad cold for about 3 weeks now.  She is finally getting better, but we were really worried about her for a while.  She couldn't even talk for two whole days (which was kind of nice because it meant she couldn't yell at us)!  Then when she started talking again, she started coughing.  Sometimes she coughed so much at night that she couldn't sleep, and neither could the rest of us.  But one night Mom got on the computer and looked for ways to get rid of a cough, and she found a whole bunch of ways.  The one she tried was to put honey in some warm milk with a little chili powder, and it worked surprisingly well, and then we could all sleep better.

Update #2:  It turned VERY COLD during the night last night, and when we woke up this morning, our house was chilly inside.  Mom did not notice how cold the house was getting overnight because she had 4 cats and a kitten in her bed to keep her warm.  But I was sleeping by myself with only a blankie, and I most definitely noticed!  Anyway, it turned out that our furnace isn't on, but we don't know why, since it was working earlier in the fall.  Mom called the furnace people, and they are going to send a nice man out later to fix it.

Update #3:  Our little foster kitten Moxie got adopted on Friday, but we still have Morgan, the black fuzzy boy.

Update #4:  On Wednesday, Mom brought home 3 new kittens.  They have names of tire companies, so they are called Dunlop, Cooper, and Michelin.  Mom did not choose these names, but she thinks they are okay names.  Anyway, the kittens are all boys, and they are about 3 months old.

Update #5:  Nicky got a boo-boo between his toes on his back foot, and he kept licking it, so now he has to wear his basket muzzle with the end cap on it all the time except when he is eating.  Then Barry gave Nicky sort of a bite on his side a few days ago, and so Mom took Nicky to the vet when I had an appointment to get a heartworm test.  Now Nicky's side is all shaved, and Mom has to put ointment on it twice a day, plus also on his toes.

Update #6:  We are still trying to get our mortgage refinanced, but it is a long, drawn-out process.  A man came and looked at our house and said what he thought it was worth, which was lots less than Mom thought it was worth.  So Mom has to bring more money to the closing, whatever that means.  Mostly, she said it means she probably won't buy us a new car right away, which she had wanted to do.   This is pretty sad because I thought I would look especially pretty in a new car!

Update #7:  There is no update number seven because I'm tired of writing now, and I'm going to try to find a warm place to take a celebratory birthday nap!
